VY Canis Majoris is known as a hypergiant. It is another one of the biggest stars in the sky. It resides in the constellation the star is named after. It an create the amount of energy in 6 seconds that our sun can produce in 1 year. The star is only stable for a few million years which is very short in astronomical timing (being that the universe is estimated 13 billion years old). It is set to explode in a hypernova, which is even bigger than a supernova.
